Veterinary Anatomical Pathologist

Gribbles Veterinary Pathology is a trading entity of Australian Clinical Labs and it is one of Australia’s leading Veterinary Pathology providers, with two dedicated veterinary laboratories within Australia. Each laboratory provides diagnostic pathology services for livestock, companion animal, university and research veterinarians, as well zoo and wildlife organisations.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Veterinary Anatomical Pathologist with a client-oriented approach and excellent communication skills for on a part-time basis, either 2-3 full days or a few hours each morning over 5 days. The Glenside laboratory services the needs of the majority of small and large animal veterinarians in the state of SA, while contracted to the Primary Industries South Australia (PIRSA) to supply pathology services to the production industries of South Australia.
 
In this role, you will provide timely diagnostic pathology services, including postmortem examinations, cytology, and histopathology, and contribute to the provision of services and advice to PIRSA. The scope of pathology work at this laboratory is wide and is a true mix of both large and small animal pathology, and of both anatomical and clinical pathology.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Interpretation of both anatomical (gross post-mortem, histopathology) and clinical pathology results
  • This includes evaluation and interpretation of haematology, cytology, biochemistry, endocrinology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology & molecular results
  • Complete post-mortem exams on small and large animals
  • Oversee preparation of tissue for testing
  • Participation in the provision of services and advice to PIRSA
  • Provision of specialist advice and phone consultation to veterinary clients
  • Provide scientific leadership to the laboratory technical team through mentorship, audits, and assistance with laboratory electronic records management and reporting systems in accordance with NATA accreditation.
  • Provide support to the Commercial team to consistently understand and meet the needs of our clients and participation in marketing activities to meet professional expectations.
  • Cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals

Essential requirements
  • Degree in Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent.
  • Registration as a veterinarian with the Veterinary Practitioners Board in Australia.
  • Pathology qualification by examination, (e.g. ACVP, ECVP, MANZCVS) or equivalent diagnostic pathology experience in production animals.
  • Post Graduate qualification in veterinary pathology or related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in clinical veterinary pathology would be desirable, and a demonstrated commitment to providing a high-quality pathology service.
